I can't comment on the cause of your problem, and I can't say I would have the presence of mind to think of it either, but the PARKING BRAKE is there for such emergencies. It ought to be a completely manual system, that isn't suspectible to software fake-outs.

Hi,

I just bought Prius 2011. Should I be concerned about this possible breaking issue?

Thanks,

I had a similar incident in my 2010 Prius last week. Weather was damp with misting rain. I was slowing down, braking for a stop sign. Then went over a dip in the road for a drainage grate and brakes quit for 2 seconds. Went through the stop sign, fortunately with no cars crossing the intersection. Have only experienced this once.
